Tina at Manitou.
My gift to you: guiding prana to rediscover who you truly are.
In 2015, I founded Manitou Healing Arts for making the healing arts accessible
to everyone. I am a yoga instructor, reiki master and a doctoral candidate studying human capabilities for inclusive connections.
The forms of yoga and reiki that I teach are traditional ways of health care that integrate our physical, mental and emotional capacities into a healthy balance using the human energy system known as “prana.”
Prana is the breath of life, a natural energy field within each of us that already knows how to heal, connect, balance and restore the whole person. Connecting to prana is also a journey into the depth of one's love, growth and soulful purpose.
I am amazed by the transformative power of prana. My hope today is that by sharing in these traditional practices together, we may turn knowledge into wisdom, dis-ease into wellness, and connections into love and freedom.
My background is in human development with trainings in Amrit Yoga, Usui Reiki, Oncology Reiki coupled with indigenous teachings and integrative studies from around the world.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle Japanese healing art that utilizes breath and hand placement on or just above the body to amplify the flow of prana into areas of tension or depletion on the physical, mental and emotional levels.
Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique. During a session, the client is fully clothed lying down or seated comfortably. Tina administers reiki from the crown to the feet, slowly moving across the body focusing on the areas of need. Clients tend to deeply relax, fall asleep and experience the movement of energy. Afterwards, Tina allows time for her clients to ask questions, share and receive feedback on the session.
Reiki is also recognized as complementary care in the medical field. Scientific research proves the benefits of reiki in addressing a range of medical issues.
Tina is trained in oncology reiki and assists cancer care patients.
What is Amrit Yoga?
Tina is passionate about Amrit Yoga, and she is one of a few certified instructors within the northern Indiana and Chicago region. Amrit Yoga is a living lineage of yoga utilized worldwide. Everyone is capable of practicing it.
The Integrative Amrit Method of Yoga is a traditional system of kundalini yoga designed to transform lives from the inside out. Amrit Yoga is a sequenced practice of postures leading into meditative movement where the mind and body become deeply still, relaxed and unified through prana.
The Integrative Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra is a traditional system of sleep-based meditation. Amrit Yoga Nidra is a guided process for entering into deep relaxation which amplifies self-healing on all levels.
Scientific research supports the benefits of yoga and yoga nidra meditation in treating a variety of illnesses and improving overall health and wellbeing.
